Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim on Wednesday called for eliminating communal forces from society to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh.
"We want a peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh. For this, we will have to be united against those who want to destroy the country's democratic practice and continuation," he said.
Nasim said this while inaugurating "South Point City Gymnasium" in the capital's Motijheel area.
He said the government is working for building a discrimination free nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Appreciating the initiative of building a gymnasium, he said such gymnasiums will play an important role to prevent drug abuse among teenagers.
Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and AL's Dhaka City South unit president Abu Ahmed Mannafi also spoke, among others.
