The district administration has completed all preparations to celebrate the 104th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day today.
The programmes were finalized last week at a preparatoty meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) conference room with DC Khondokar Yasin Arefin in the chair.
On the occasion, the national flag will be hoisted atop of all public and private buildings and the people from all walks of life will place floral wreathes at Bangabandhu memorial on the DC office premises.
A discussion will be held at Shilpakala Academy in presence of freedom fighters to be followed by a cultural programme with the participation of children.
Distribution of prizes among the winner children of Art and essay competition on Bangabandhu's life will be held after the discussion.
Special prayers will be offered at different mosques, temples, churches and other religious institutions to seek eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his martyred family members.
Improved diet will be served at all hospitals, orphanage centers and jail to mark the day.
State-run Khulna Betar will broadcast special programmes while the local newspapers will bring out special supplements on the occasion.
Roads will be decorated with colourful banners and festoons to give the city a festive look.
Marking the day, similar programmes will be held at all upazila headquarters.
