The Women and Children Affairs Ministry has taken elaborate programmes to celebrate the 104th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day-2024 on Sunday in a befitting manner.
On the eve of the day, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on Saturday.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj today.
A contingent of armed forces will give guard of honor on the occasion.
Rich tributes will also be paid to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait on the premises of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi- 32 in the capital.
Marking the day, the national flag will be hoisted atop all buildings of government, semi government, autonomous and private organizations as well educational institutions and Bangladesh missions abroad.
Women and Children Affairs Ministry will arrange a programme at Tungipara. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the programme as the chief guest.
Marking the day, discussion and cultural function will be arranged at district and upazila levels. All ministries and divisions will take respective programmes. Discussions, essay and drawing competitions will also be held.
Special supplement and posters will be published in newspapers, important roads and establishments will be illuminated.
Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and other private TV channels and radio stations including community radio will air special programmes highlighting the significance of the day in the life of Bangalees.
Bangladesh missions abroad will also celebrate the day in a befitting manner.
Special munajat and prayers will be offered at all mosques, temples, pagodas, churches and other places of prayers.
