Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in two separate anti-crime operations, arrested five alleged drug peddlers, including a female, with 10 kilograms of ganja and 50 bottles of phensedyl in Rajshahi district last night.
The arrested were identified as Komela Khatun, 60, wife of late Nurul Islam, Abdullah Al Mamun, 23, son of late Hafiz Uddin, Nasir Uddin, 34, son of Abdur Razzaque, Rajon Ali, 22, son of Haran Sheikh and Delwar Hossain, 23, son of Rafiqul Islam, RAB sources said here this morning.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in Chhotobangram area under Chandrima Police Station around 3.30am and arrested Komela, Abdullah Al Mamun and Nasir Uddin with the hemp red-handed, RAB sources said.
In another drive conducted in Tangan area under Katakhali Police Station around 10.40 am and arrested Rajan and Delwar with 50 bottles of phensedyl.
The arrested persons with the seized contraband goods were handed over to the police.
Separate cases were filed with the respective police stations in these connections.
