Bangladesh army condoles death of former Army Chief Atiqur Rahman

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh Army today expressed profound shock
and sorrow at the death of former Army Chief Lieutenant General (retired) Md
Atiqur Rahman.

Lieutenant General (retired) Md Atiqur Rahman died of heart attack at 10:20
am this morning at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

He was 92, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release said.

His namaz-e-janaza was held at 4.15pm this afternoon at the central mosque in
Dhaka Cantonment.

Prime Minister's security affairs adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed
Siddique, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Navy
Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, former chiefs of Bangladesh Army and senior
army officials, among others, attended the namaz-e-janaza.

 

 

 

After his namaz-e-janaza, he was laid to eternal rest at Military Graveyard
in Banani with full military honours and rituals.
