Afroza Zaman, mother-in-law of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and mother of Bashundhara Group Director Sabrina Sobhan, passed away in Makkah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday afternoon. She was 67.
She went to the holy city for performing her Umrah. She left behind her two daughters, a son and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
A pall of gloom descended on Bashundhara family since the news of her death spread.
Bashundhara Group has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Afroza Zaman. The largest industrial conglomerate of the country also conveyed deepest condolences to her bereaved family and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
Besides, people of all classes and professions of Kushtia district have expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased.
Born on 1 February in 1957 to Afazuddin Khan and Akimunesa, Afroza Zaman was involved in numerous charitable works and social welfare activities.
She was the wife former Member of Parliament of Kushtia-3 (Sadar) Khandaker Rashiduzzaman Dudu who died on 4 February in 2014. An eminent businessman Khandaker Rashiduzzaman was also the President of Bangladesh Awami League’s Kushtia district unit and a former vice president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
Khandaker Rashiduzzaman was involved with Chhatra League politics during his student days. He was elected vice president of Kushtia Government College Students’ Union in 1969 and participated in the mass uprising. Later, he led the Awami Jubo League as well.
