Father, son among 3 crushed under train in Tangail

Three people, including a man and his son, were crushed under the wheels of a train at Analiabari area under Kalihati upazila of the district on Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Ratan Miah, 27, and his son Sunny, 6, residents of Baraigram upazila in Natore district and Sharif, 40, son of Alam Mandal, a resident of Mahindra village of Belpukur in Rajshahi.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus was going to Dhaka from Natore.

Sub-inspector (SI) of Tangail Gharinda Railway Police Ali Akbar said a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Natore got out of order due to a technical glitch when it reached near the railway line in the area and the passengers of the bus including the deceased were roaming around the rail tracks.

At one stage, the trio crashed under the wheels of a train around 8.20pm, he said. They died on the spot.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent these to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station Alamgir said.
