Two people were killed and nine others injured as a truck hit an auto rickshaw in Tongi area of the district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Joni, 18, and Sohel, 40. They were the residents of Dakhin Sadharchar village in Shibpur Upazila under Narsingdi district. They were going towards Ijtema venue from Mirer Bazar in Tongi to take part in the Akheri Minajat.

In-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp Md Bachchu Mia said the accident occurred this morning. Jony and Sohel died on way to the hospital.

Of the injured, four were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while the rest were admitted to Tongi hospital.
