Illegal soil extraction threatens agricultural fertility and health in Dinajpur. Our Correspondent Satyendra Nath Chatterjee (Mukul) from Dinajpur reported that despite objections from neighbouring landowners, influential quarters continue to plunder topsoil, diminishing land fertility and obstructing food production. With 175 out of 241 brick kilns operating without environmental clearance, the environment faces grave peril. Illegal construction of brick kilns in densely populated areas further exacerbates the crisis, while the use of wood for brick burning intensifies pollution.
