2 killed as pick-up van hits motorcycles in Sylhet

Two people were killed and two others injured as a pick-up van rammed into two motorbikes on Sylhet-Tamabil highway in front of Jaflong Valley Boarding School under Jaintiapur upazila of the district last night (Tuesday).

The deceased were identified as Shihab Uddin, 22, son of Alauddin of Mokambari area of Jaintapur upazila and Faisal Reza, 19, son of General Secretary of Jaintiapur Upazila Awami League M Liaquat Ali.

The accident occurred in front of Jaflong Valley Boarding School when the Naljuri-bound pick-up van hits two motorcycles in the area around 10 pm last night leaving four motorcycle riders injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jaintiapur Police Station Tajul Islam said.

The injured were taken to Jaintiapur Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared Shihab Uddin dead.

Later, the rest three injured were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital for better treatment, where Faisal Reza succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, OC said.
