A total of 240 trainee female students were given laptops on Monday free of cost aimed at transforming them into successful entrepreneurs through income-generating activities, particularly-e-commerce and the women freelancer category of the district.
The trainees coming from different areas in Narail Sadar, Lohagara and Kalia upazilas were given laptops with the main thrust of women empowerment through information and communication technology frontier initiative.
On behalf of its 'Her Power Project', the Department of Information and Communication Technology distributed the laptops at a function held at the Narail Zilla Shilpakala Academy Auditorium here in the afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Ashfaqul Haque Chowdhury handed over the laptops among the trainees as the chief guest with Deputy Project Director of Her Power Project Nilufa Yasmin was in the chair.
Zilla Parishad Chairman Advocate Subas Chandra Bose, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) Md. Arafat Hossain, Narail Pourashava Mayor Anjuman Ara, among others, spoke on the occasion.
