In a fervent display of technical prowess and innovation, the Rangpur Regional Skills and Innovation Competition unfolded on March 16 at the Dinajpur District Shilpakala Academy premises.
The event, orchestrated under the Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) project by the Directorate of Technical Education, Ministry of Education, aimed to bolster the appeal of technical education while nurturing the inventive acumen of students.
Farid Uddin Ahmed, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Department, Ministry of Education attended the event as the chief guest. Dr. Md Sirajul Islam, Additional Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Department, and Shakeel Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur and eminient technical experts took part in the event.
A total of 37 projects, meticulously selected from 13 technical institutes across the Rangpur region, took center stage in this day-long extravaganza. As the day progressed, accolades were bestowed upon the outstanding performers, recognizing their ingenuity and dedication.
A vibrant rally was benlivened the atmosphere, with over 1000 students enthusiastically participating. Through spirited chants and colorful placards, the rally served as a beacon for advocating and popularizing technical education.
Subsequently, a seminar underscored the significance of technical education, drawing the participation of 350 principals from secondary schools and madrasas. Speakers elucidated the staggering statistics, revealing the employment rate of technical education graduates to be a commendable 70 percent, far surpassing their counterparts in general education.
Highlighting the government's commitment to fostering a skilled workforce, the competition resonated with the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to propel Bangladesh towards excellence in the 21st century. With an ambitious target to increase the enrollment rate in technical and vocational education to 30 percent by 2030, initiatives like the ASSET project serve as catalysts for this transformative journey.
The Skills and Innovation Competition stands as a testament to the nation's dedication to harnessing the potential of its youth, empowering them to lead the charge towards a prosperous future. As the ASSET project continues to chart its course from July 2021 to December 2026, it promises to usher in a new era of skill development and economic transformation across Bangladesh.
