Bangabandhu’s 104th birth anniversary and national children day observed in Netrakona

The 104th  birth anniversary of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and national children day was observed as elsewhere across the country in a befitting manner.

Netrakona district administration and different socio-cultural organizations, political parties including Awami League (AL), professional groups and educational institutions chalked out various programs to mark the day.

The celebration began in the morning  with placing of floral wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu at ‘Chetonar Batighor’ on Netrakona district  collectorate  office premises by deputy commissioner Netrakona Shahed Parvez.

Then, chairman of Netrakona zila parishad Asit Kumar Sarker Sazal, police super Netrakona Foyaz Ahmed, mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, general secretary of Netrakona district press club Advocate Habibur Rahman, local public representatives, valiant freedom fighters, political leaders, civil society members placed wreaths on the mural of Bangabandhu there.

As part of the program, a jubilant rally of children was brought out in the district town from the local Muktarpara ground and it ended on the local public hall premises after parading the main roads of the town.

A discussion meeting on “the life and ideals of Bangabandhu” was held at local public hall here under the auspices of the district administration.

Dr. Nadia Binthe Amin, MP, attended the discussion meeting as chief guest with deputy commissioner of Netrakona Shahed Parvez in the chair.

The meeting was addressed, among others, by chairman of Netrakona zila parishad Asit Kumar Sarkar Sazal, president of district AL advocate Amirul Islam, and general secretary of district AL Advocate Shamsur Rahman liton.

The speakers paid glowing tributes to the memories of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recalled the outstanding contributions of Bangabandhu in achieving the country’s independence.  

Netrakona district information office arranged screening of a documentary film show on “the life of Bangabandhu” for the students on Netrakona central Shaheed Minar premises.

Special prayers were offered at Netrakona central Jam-e-mosque , other mosques, temples, churches and other places of worship across the district seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members.
