Seven students of Narayanganj’s Araihazar Government Model Pilot High School have been expelled following assault on a teacher.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ishtiaq Ahmed confirmed the matter on Friday afternoon.
According to school authorities, a 10th grader named Akib of Araihazar Government Model Pilot High School was troubling a female student of Sultansadi High School. The victim girl is the daughter of the school’s record-keeper.
However, locals warned regarding the matter several times, but the harasser Akib ignored it and continued to harass the girl along with his friends.
After that, observing the situation locals handed over Akib to Sultansadi High School authorities on the first week of June. Later, the school’s Assistant teacher Pradeep Biswas warned Akib and said to concentrate in his education.
In this incident Akib got enraged and on June 10th, along with his associates named Sifat, Akram, Mehdi, Maruf, Sanpriyo, Nahid, Sajeeb attacked on teacher Pradeep Biswas.
Following the incident, there was a strong reaction emerged among the local teachers' society. Later, the teachers were reassured when UNO promised to take action in this area.
Later, On Thursday afternoon, in an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of the school president and UNO Ishtiaq Ahmed, Akib, Sifat, Akram, Mehdi, Maruf, Sanpriyo, Nahid was expelled.
