Doctor dies in Bhola road accident

A doctor was killed in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a microbus on the Bhola-Charfashion regional highway in Baklai intersection area under Lalmohan upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Hillol Dey, 36, son of Kajal Chandra, resident of Malaypattan village under Borhanuddin upazila of the district. He was a medical officer of Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex.

The accident occurred in the area when Hillol was going to the Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex on a motorcycle. On the way, a head-on collision occurred with a Bhola-bound microbus coming from the opposite direction around 11.30am, leaving him seriously injured, duty-officer of Lalmohan Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Omar Farooq said.

Locals rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The body has been sent to the hospital morgue for post-mortem, he said.

Police seized the microbus but its driver escaped, he added.
