Two sports organisers withdraw their candidatures from national election

Ruling Bangladesh Awami League on Sunday sent a letter to the Election Commission to withdraw the nomination papers of their two candidates. 

They are three-time MP of Gaibandha - 2 constituency and whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Mahbub Ara Gini, and the incumbent MP of Chattogram- 8 constituency Noman Al Mahmud. They have to withdraw their candidature in favour of the negotiated Jatiya Party candidates Abdur Rashid Sikder and Solaiman Alam Seth.

President of Bangladesh Women's Sports Association, vice president of Bangladesh Olympic Association Mahbub Ara Gini and Treasurer of Chattagram Divisional Sports Association Noman Al Mahmud got the Awami League nominations for the first time. 

Besides, two MPs from the country's sports Arena--Whip of Jatiya Sangsad and the top official Chittagong Abahani Ltd Shamsul Haque Chowdhury and Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board and former national team captain Naimur Rahman Durjoy failed to manage the party (Awami League) nomination this time.

But, some star cricketers, footballers and top sports organisers-- --former national cricket captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, current captain cum world famed all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, former star footballer Abdus Salam Murshedy, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon, former presidents Saber Hossain Chowdhury, AHM Mustafa Kamal, BFF vice president Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Chairman of Dhaka Abahani Ltd Salman F Rahman, Abahani Directors Shariar Alam and Nasrul Hamid Bipu contesting the ensuing national election as Awami League candidates while former BCB president Anisul Islam Mahmud contesting the national pool as Jatiya Party candidate.
