Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Monday said law enforcement and security cooperation is one of the key aspects propelling Bangladesh-China relations.
The Chinese side is ready to enhance cooperation with Bangladesh on law enforcement, security maintenance and capacity building of personnel, he said.
The envoy laid emphasis on joint contribution to the sustainable development of the two countries.
Ambassador Yao met Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and discussed the areas of cooperation.
The two sides had in-depth discussion on further promotion of law enforcement and security cooperation between the two countries amid new circumstances.
Ambassador Yao congratulated the Bangladesh government for the successful holding of the 12th National Parliamentary Election, and congratulated Asaduzzaman Khan for being appointed as Minister of Home Affairs.
Ambassador Yao noted that the Bangladesh-China Strategic Partnership of Cooperation has kept advancing under the joint guidance by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Home Minister has extended care and attention to the safety, security and interests of Chinese citizens and enterprises in Bangladesh in accordance with the law, he added.
Asaduzzaman Khan appreciated China for its everlasting and firm support for Bangladesh in maintaining independence, opposing external interference and achieving development goals.
The Bangladeshi side is ready to enhance friendly cooperation with China on law enforcement and security keeping, and expects China to provide more training opportunities for Bangladeshi law enforcement officers, according to the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will spare no effort in ensuring safety and security of the Chinese citizens and enterprises in Bangladesh, said the Bangladesh side.
