Opposition Chief Whip Mujibul Haque Chunnu on Tuesday demanded the government take strict action against 'Kishore Gangs' (juvenile gangs) and their patronisers.
He made this demand while speaking on a point of order in Parliament.
During his unscheduled discussion, Chunnu cited a news report published in a Bangla daily.
While reading out some portion of the news, Chunnu said it is difficult for people to live in Dhaka city.
“These forces who are extorting, looting, making people suffer, they are doing all this under the patronage of the police and ruling party’s political figures and commissioners.”
He said that 'drastic action' needs to be taken against those who are involved in these activities.
“Be it the government party or the police, to give the people of the whole country, especially the people of Dhaka city, the opportunity to live in peace,” Chunnu said.
He drew the attention of the Prime Minister and Home Minister to arrest such people and bring them under the law.
