Election observers from nine countries so far confirmed to visit Bangladesh to monitor the upcoming general election to be held on January 7.
This was revealed today at the foreign ministry's weekly briefing conducted by its spokesperson Seheli Sabrin at the ministry here this afternoon.
Replying to a question, Sabrin said the nine countries are - India, Sri Lanka, China, Russia, Japan, Uzbekistan, Mauritius, Georgia and Palestine would observe the elections.
Besides, she said, OIC, commonwealth and Arab Parliament will also observe the elections.
Currently, a four-member EU expert panel is in Dhaka to observe the election. The EU delegation is schedule to leave the country on January 24.
