Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 15.27 points or 0.24 per cent to settle at 6,318.08. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 3.71 points to finish at 2,123.33 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 3.29 points to close at 1,376.88.

At DSE, out of the day's 338 securities, prices of 101 securities closed higher against 68 losing issues.

The day's trade value at the DSE decreased to Taka 6,742.73 million which was Taka 7,649.43 million at the previous session of the week.

The major gaining issues were UNIONCAP, SANDHANINS, ILFSL, ORIONINFU and DESHBANDHU while the major losing companies were 1STPRIMFMF, IFILISLMF1, DBH1STMF, CAPMIBBLMF and ARAMITCEM.
 
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 39.33 points up at 18,699.52.

At the CSE, 174 issues were traded. Of those, 64 closed higher and 46 closed lower when 23.92 lakh shares worth Taka 7.64 crore changed hands.
