Stock markets today finished the session of the week flat as the major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed downward trend amid lower activities of large-cap securities.
The benchmark index of the Dhaka bourse closed the day with 1.69 point down at 6,267.82. The blue-chip DS30 also closed the day with 0.33 point down at 2,101.90. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with 0.36 point up at 1,367.37.
The losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 346 issues traded, 110 closed lower, 53 advanced and 183 issues remained unchanged on the DSE floor.
The major gaining issues were KPPL, ARAMITCEM, ETL, UNIONCAP and MIDASFIN. The major losing companies were IFILISLMF1, GLDNJMF, BDTHAI, PRIME1ICBA and CAPMIBBLMF.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with slightly upward trend with its major CASPI 12.49 points up at 18,580.64.
At CSE, 167 issues were traded. Of those, 51 closed higher and 42 closed lower when 25.75 lakh shares worth Taka 6.29 crore changed hands.
