The High Court today ordered to make a fixed deposit of 30 lakh Taka for Naeem Hasan, 13, as he lost a hand while working at a workshop in Brahmanbaria's Ashuganj in 2020.
A High Court Division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque also ordered the workshop manager Raju Ahmed to pay Taka 7,000 every month to the child until his Higher Secondary Exam.
In the order, the workshop manager was asked to pay half of the deposit amount by April, and the rest by December this year.
According to the case, On September 28, 2020, child labor Naeem was forced to operate a machine by the workshop manager. While operating it, his right hand accidentally slipped inside the machine and later it was amputated to save his life.
On December 27, 2021, a writ was filed asking to compensate the child.
On January 14 this year, the HC issued a rule asking why the compensation would not be claimed even after the child lost a limb.
