Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) will stand by if any journalist is harassed, said BFUJ President Omar Faruque on Tuesday.
He said this at a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club in protest against the filing of a false case and various forms of harassment against the reporter Swapna Rose for publishing news on the online news portal Baisakhinews24.net about the corruption of Capital capital market.
The human chain was organized by Bangladesh Women Journalists Association, and its President Nasima Akhter Soma presided over it.
Omar Faruque also said, “I want to tell Swapna Rose that if there is any attack on you regarding this case, BFUJ will stand by you. BFUJ’s organizations across the country will also stand by.”
He said, “Not only in the case of journalist Swapna Rose, we will protest on the streets if there is any attack or harassment case against journalists in any part of the country. BFUJ will always be by their side.”
BFUJ Joint General Secretary Khairul Alam, executive member Ummul Wara Sweety and other journalists’ leaders were also present at the human chain.
