Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda has said there is no alternative of exercise and sports to lead a healthy and beautiful life.
The minister said this while addressing the prize giving ceremony of the 52nd Winter Sports Competition at Dumuria Jubo Sangha ground here on Saturday as chief guest.
Organized by Upazila National School, Madrasah and Technical Education Sports Association, the minister said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various steps to improve the quality of sports with a view to win the competitions at the international level.”
“Without the sports, there is no alternative to lead a beautiful life. If the students are involved in sports side by side with studies, they will not go astray. Both the education and health can be developed through sports,” the minister said, adding that teachers and parents should try to make the students interested in the sports in order to keep them away from drugs and phone addiction.
Chaired by Dumuria upazila parishad chairman Ezaz Ahmed, upazila nirbahi officer Sheikh Nurul Alam spoke as special guests while upazila secondary education officer Debashish Kumar Biswas delivered the welcome speech in the programme.
At the end of the programme, Narayan Chandra Chanda distributed prizes among the champion and runner-up teams of the 52nd Winter Sports Competition.
Later, the Land Minister as a chief guest, attended a reception ceremony organized by Dumuria Journalist Welfare Association.
Upazila parishad chairman Ezaz Ahmed spoke as a special guest at the event while Kazi Abdullah, president of Dumuria Journalist Welfare Association was in the chair.
The Minister also attended another reception programme organized by Upazila Awami League and associated bodies at Dumuria Independence Memorial Ground.
