Festivity has begun among people of Kotalipara under Gopalganj district as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the Kotalipara on Saturday and addressed a mass rally as part of her election campaign.
While addressing the rally, in Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Ideal Govt College field on the morning of Saturday, Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the local people to go to polling stations early to cast vote (for boat).
The rally turned into a human sea as hundreds of people of the upazila joined it (rally) with drums. They also danced with the drum beats and sang songs composed on Bangabandhu and the liberation war. People also chanted the slogan-'Joy Bangla' and 'Nouka' there.
Common people particularly Awami League leaders and activists in Kotalipara were ecstatic about PM's visit. On the occasion, Kotalipara was decorated with colorful flags, banner, festoon and posters a week ago.
People under all the 11 Union Parishad of the Upazila are in festive mood centering the upcoming January 7 election.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's elder daughter and four-time elected Prime Minister of the country, Sheikh Hasina will contest the Gopalganj-3 parliamentary seat for the seventh time in the 2024 general election.
